Digital Society Working Committee
Mission
The Digital Society Working Committee focuses on issues underpinning the digital economy and digitalization of both the public and private sectors, promotes the exchange of ideas from an American-Swedish perspective, and aligns with AmCham’s overall objective to promote U.S.-Swedish trade and investment and U.S. commercial interests in Sweden based on the strong foundation of the American-Swedish partnership.
The tremendous growth we have seen in digital service companies has shown the importance of allowing flexibility for business models to innovate, resulting in benefits for consumers and public services. Any new regulatory approaches should continue to foster innovation and be undertaken with care
to avoid unintended negative consequences and must balance any risks against real benefits including increased social, political, creative, and economic participation across society.
AmCham has ongoing dialogues with government interlocutors in the U.S. and Sweden as well as with EU stakeholders on the public procurement of cloud services and access to healthcare data, and the committee focuses on these issues, as well as data privacy, cybersecurity, and competition issues, in concert with other Working Committees such as the Life Science Working Committee, the Security Working Committee, and the Government Relations Working Committee.
