What is the Electoral College?
Instead of popular vote like in other U.S elections, the presidential and vice presidential elections are chosen through the Electoral College process. The Electoral College process includes selection of electors, meeting with electors who cast votes for president and vice president, and the counting of the electors’ votes by Congress. Each state gets as many electors as it has members of Congress (House and Senate), currently there are a total of 538 electors.
