Many different areas of climate change research, from agriculture and economics to meteorology, oceanography, transportation, the use of materials in the products we purchase, and beyond play a key role in studying how the climate is changing and why.
Sharing this research empowers all people, and especially motivates younger members of society to take action. Knowing the facts helps eliminate the fear of an issue such as climate change, which in turn can fuel anxiety and pessimism. As stated by the United Nations, “Education is a critical agent in addressing the issue of climate change. The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) assigns responsibility to Parties of the Convention to undertake educational and public awareness campaigns on climate change, and to ensure public participation in programs and information access on the issue.”
