Global Commitment on Anti-Corruption: Is it Making Progress?

The complex and cross-border nature of corruption requires multilateral collaboration and strong commitment in order for anti-corruption efforts to be efficient and make a sustainable impact. However, international commitments are often criticised for being too weak. How can they be strengthened?

There is an increasing amount of international and global initiatives that aim to reduce corruption. The U.S. lead Summit for Democracy initiative convenes more than 60 democracies worldwide and is committed to defending against authoritarianism, countering corruption, and promoting respect for human rights. And the newly published EU anti-corruption package sets out stronger rules to fight corruption in not only the EU but also worldwide. These commitments are welcomed and long-awaited efforts but will they contribute to ending corruption?
